What a difference one year makes...or not

Miles has gotten so much bigger, but still he cries on Halloween. Why? It's a fun holiday...Guess which picture is from which year. No hints. No cheating.

Peacock sez: "Happy Halloween!"

Even though Miles has a cold, nothing could stop him from going out for Halloween. He looked dashing in his peacock outfit and white tights. Neighbors couldn't get enough of him, but after four houses, he was pooped and ready to come home. The most fun he had was on our front porch checking out the chocolate candies we had in our pumpkin bowl. Max and Grace also came by to see the Haunted House on our street and posed for some pictures.

It's pumpkin time

Miles and his mom went to a pumpkin patch today to prepare for Halloween. Mind you, Shari took 130+ pictures and found these gems amid the snarls.

Cake and fun

Inspired by the painting on Miles' wall, his mom hand-decorated his birthday cake, with an assist from his dad. Miles got his own smash cake, but he wasn't much in the mood to smash it. Instead, he started to cry.

Miley perked up later when it came time to open the gifts. Thanks everyone for making his first birthday so memorable.

It's my party...

A week after we got back from NYC, it was time for Miles' birthday shindig. His Bubbe and Zaydee came from Michigan, his Grandma from Dallas, MichaelSaul from New York and Katie B. from San Fran. The theme was Western and he was decked out in his Cowboy hat and boots. Mom smoked 50 chicken breasts on the smoker and made mac-n-cheese, baked beans and potato salad. It was delicious!! Miles and his little friends played in the ball pit and took rides in the red wagon. Fun was had by all!!

Catching up--our trip to New York

With his dad stuck in meetings and workshops, Miles and his mom took New York City by storm. Miles had a wonderful birthday. With his Toys r Us hat securly fastened, he greeted wellwishers on the streets of New York.

Miles and his mom then met up with Vanessa and Henry (buddies from Mommy Gossip) and they went to Central Park to enjoy the sights and sounds. Miles made a pitstop at FAO Schwarz for an ice cream sundae. But he seemed to enjoy the spoon more than the ice cream.

On the day after, Miles didn't rest! Instead, he went with Uncle MichaelSaul to the Children's Museum of Manhattan and then went out to dinner with lots of friends (Sean, Sean, Laura, Vikas, Charles, Liz and MichaelSaul). Boy did he have fun in New York. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us.

Miles Turns One!

It's hard to believe that our little guy is one. And this sure was a birthday that none of us will soon forget. The family traveled to New York City for daddy's health care journalism workshop and board meeting.

Miles had a special request for his bday dinner: macaroni and cheese. Uncle MichaelSaul pledged to find the best mac 'n cheese in the Big Apple and we wound up at Eatery, a hip little diner in Hells Kitchen. It was a hit! Our waiter put a candle in Miles' meal, and the little guy loved it. He couldn't stop eating.

Stay tuned for many more posts and photos of our New York trip.

T is for Torah, Part II

This morning, Miles went to his first Tot Shabbat. There were dozens of kids in the main sanctuary as we sang songs, listened to guitar and played with tambourines. Then, we went to the social hall where we all made "Torahs" with graham crackers, frosting, licorice and marshmallows. We learned that Miles loves marshmallows and tries to shove them in his mouth at one time. Check it out!!

T is for Torah

Miles got up close and personal with the real Torah and his stuffed one at Simchat Torah services at our Temple this week. The adults stood on the perimeter of the sanctuary and the Torah was rolled out so everyone could hold a piece of parchmont. Isn't his little kippah cute?

Well bred

Like the outfit? Miles' mom got it at a swag suite.

Miles hits Malibu

First, sorry we haven't updated the blog in so long.
Our friends Danny and Alan invited us Saturday night to the newly remodeled Malibu Beach Inn. Alan is in charge there. Boy were we impressed. The hotel is amazing, and we were the first to stay in our room (It doesn't open to the public til Oct. 15.)

Not only that, the hotel's private chef came in to cook us an amazing dinner. Tia Dities (Brenda) and Steven were there too. We all fell asleep listening to the ocean waves crashing against the shore. Miles had an amazing time.

The next morning, we went to Marmalade Cafe for brunch...and goes who we saw?? Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yes, that's right. The Terminator. Miles was too shy to go up for an autograph, but he enjoyed seeing him from afar.
